Concept

In order to have a calm and relaxed stay, as well as heal at the same time, I have decided to create a space that centres around the idea of natural healing. That is why I have decided to incorporate the concept of herbs into my space and design.

By using the form, shape and characteristics of herbs, specifically turmeric, I have manipulated the form to be organic and the spaces to be open and connected with the inclusion of little pods of spaces dedicated for each user.

Market

Having a marketplace run by dementia patients gives them a sense of purpose by allowing them still contribute back to society despite their condition. This will give them a sense of hope that their capabilities of doing basic tasks have not been hindered.

Jacuzzi

As a form of hydrotherapy and thermotherapy, having a jacuzzi will be able to not only help reduce pain, relieve stress and provide better sleep for the patient but also helps reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease as it helps improve blood circulation to the heart and the brain

Herb garden/ Rooftop Garden

By having a garden that mimics a park on the rooftop, the patient gets to experience the outdoors right where they stay and have fresh air as well. There will be park features such as a rock pathway (foot massage), seating area and a pond (rainwater irrigation system). By having a herb garden that the patients can grow on their own, they get to stay active as well.
